Champignac invente un programme informatique pour commander certains objets à la parole. Il en équipe la Turbotraction, ainsi qu'un robot nommé Robert. Spirou et Champignac partent avec la Turbotraction organiser secrètement l'anniversaire de Fantasio. Ce dernier resté seul au château, décide de tester les étonnantes capacités de Robert : la perspective d'être obéi au mot près ravit Fantasio. Mais à cause d'un bug informatique, la voiture devient folle, tandis que Robert se retourne contre son " maître ", appliquant à la lettre la consigne de ne lui laisser faire aucun effort. Robert ligote le pauvre Fantasio et fabrique un androïde, parfaite copie de Fantasio, pour donner le change. De retour au château après avoir évité de peu l'accident, Spirou et Champignac n'y voient que du feu. Le faux Fantasio profite même de la fête d'anniversaire à la place du vrai. Heureusement Spirou découvre la supercherie et délivre Fantasio, qui passe le pire jour d'anniversaire de sa vie.
